Narrative
Money Heist is a Spanish TV which first aired on May 2nd 2017. There are 4 seasons which consists of 31 episodes total. A fifth season is going to be released in January of 2021 which is said to be the last season of the series.
I hypothesize that Money was a successful show, I say this because it is a mainstream crime drama (which is a very popular genre) with recognized characters, although many people in Asia don’t recognized the characters, they are very famous around Europe, especially Spain.
This is a crime drama with the subgenre of robber procedural, this genre is popular because because there have been many other series and movies made around the genre which many people have enjoyed watching. (16) There is some form of hybridity as there is also lots of humor and romanticism involved in the series. This will help bring a larger audience to it as many people although not liking crime drama, may enjoy comedies or love stories. This series is conventional as on it's basis, it's just robbers/thieves robbing an important location with conflict with police and a few love stories along the way.
The narrative is conventional as it is used a lot. The plot is not linear (doesn’t go from start to finish) as there are many flashbacks and flashforwards involved in this show. There are many enigmas to keep the audience wanting to keep watching. The plot is conventional as it's basically just robbers robbing an important place, escaping, getting caught, doing another robbery, etc.
There are lots of conflicts and twists along the way which make it a bit original but it's really nothing out of the ordinary. These enigmas often happen at the end of the episode but also sometimes happen during the episode (eg. when the teddy bear came with a ‘bomb’ inside - during the episode). There are conflicts that last the whole series (cop vs robber - good vs bad) but also conflicts that break/go away (professor vs inspector). Some rising conflicts occur between the robber and the victims (Denver vs Aurturo - Season 3 and 4) Some conflicts also happen between the robbers for various reasons (Tokyo vs Berlin) These conflicts usually arise during the episode because of an argument/disagreement.
The narrative is a continuous narrative, this means that all the episodes and seasons are connected with each other. The narrative is also formatted in a Freytag’s pyramid. This means that there is a start (the idea of a robbery), a rising action (people dying along the way - eg. Denver's dad dying, and some people getting caught - eg. Tokyo getting thrown out), then there is a climax which in this TV show is the inspector Angel figuring out the professor's identity, but then falling into a coma. The falling action is the robbers starting to pack up, and getting ready to leave the royal mint. The resolution is the robbers leaving the royal mint successfully and the inspector Raquel reuniting with the professor. This all starts over in the 3rd season after one of the robbers - Rio - gets caught and gets tortured, causing the narrative to restart to save Rio, causing another heist.
Most of the robbers had very distinguishable traits. For example, Berlin was a dying psychopath and Tokyo was very impulsive. The cops all had similar traits except for Raquel. Most of the cops were very secretive, wanting to protect the country's secrets at any cost (eg. when the red boxes came out) Most of the hostages were terrified, most of them blended in with one another except for a special few. Monica was bold and romantic, Torres was a hard worker and enjoyed working in the heist, Auturo was a paranoid and bold.

(fig. 16) This poster showcases the main star of the show Tokyo, she got a separate poster because she would attract the most star fans because she is the most well known/famous actor out of the cast. Ursula Corbero (who plays Tokyo) has the highest net worth out of all the cast, and makes the most money per episode. This is because she has starred in many other shows acquiring star fans from all of these shows (17)
